Unix and Network Consultant Office To Go contracting for Advanced Cable Communications August 2003-October 2003 Office to Go is the IT contractor for Advanced Cable Communications, the local cable company for the Weston and Coral Springs, Florida areas. Advanced Cable provides cable modem internet access to around 12,000 users between the two cities. Achievements: * Helped existing admin and new junior admin gain a better understanding of the administration of Cisco and Sun hardware via training and documentation. * Did a root cause analysis of network performance problems, implemented some temporary solutions, and made recommendation of a hardware upgrade for a permanent solution. * Assisted in the implementation and rollout of a new Linux email server capable of supporting 12,000 active users, including realtime spam and virus checking. * Rolled out simultaneous security updates to Solaris and Redhat systems from custom built packages to mitigate a serious security vulnerability. * Acted as a liaison with bandwidth provider, helping to communicate the network layout and to make sure that due diligence was done in network upgrades. * Upgraded Cisco IOS images, troubleshot and documented existing configurations, upgraded hardware during maintenance windows.
